Therion: Con Orquesta (2 CD + DVD) [Blu-ray]

A full 17 years after their last monumental shows of this kind, THERION made history again in 2024: The Swedish symphonic metal pioneers performed with a full orchestra once more. After unforgettable performances in Romania (2006) and Hungary (2007), the legendary band returned to the orchestra stage for their first ever spectacular arena show, thrilling 11,000 spectators in the sold-out Mexico City Arena. This landmark performance, entitled Con Orquesta, will be immortalized as a valuable chapter in the band's history and will be released on January 30, 2026 via Napalm Records in various physical formats, including several strictly limited editions.

After the two shows in Europe, THERION mastermind Christofer Johnsson was unsure whether he would ever do a live project with an orchestra again. In the end, however, his decision was more than worth it. Together with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, the band delivers an incomparable symphonic metal spectacle, enriching classics with new arrangements and expanding their sound universe with a grandiose orchestral style. "For the last few projects, we took the 'THERION goes classic' approach: Band and symphony orchestra met at eye level. This resulted in fully orchestrated versions of our songs - a mixture of around 50% THERION material and 50% classical excerpts that were rearranged especially for band and orchestra," reflects Johnsson. "This time, however, I took a different approach: I asked a renowned Mexican conductor and composer to interpret our song, adding new arrangements and expanding the existing ones with the orchestra. In addition, new intros and small interludes were written. The result is a real Mexican interpretation of THERION live with orchestra.
