In July 1996, on a tiny island near the Finnish town of Kitee, Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen had an idea that would give rise to the captivating story of Nightwish—a story that has now been unfolding for 30 years: From a modest three-song acoustic demo featuring genre-blending ideas to global dominance in symphonic metal.

“The Greatest 30 Years On Earth” is a comprehensive collection documenting Nightwish’s past and present—a “Vehicle Of Spirit” with countless more stories yet to be told.

In addition to 3 CDs and a Blu-ray, the Earbook also includes an in-depth interview from the year 2026 with Emppu and Tuomas, who take you back to that aforementioned night in Kitee, where they reflect humorously and honestly on the band’s incredible history and open up a treasure trove of personal photos, accompanied by rare and previously unpublished behind-the-scenes images provided by Nightwish’s longtime friends and collaborators.

This release also documents Nightwish’s most recent tour from 2022 to 2023 with breathtaking recordings and footage captured at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and at Rantakenttä in Kitee, where Floor Jansen delivered magical performances during these most unforgettable concerts of the tour, bringing the circle full in the very place where Nightwish’s rise to stardom began over three decades ago.

In addition, “The Greatest 30 Years On Earth” includes a documentary by Ville Lipiäinen that offers fascinating insights into Holopainen’s songwriting process, revealing his creativity, his simplicity, his love of music, and his self-deprecating humor. As a bonus, this release also includes a selection of songs that were remixed and remastered at Finnvox Studios and were originally recorded live in the studio in 2021 during the virtual live shows from the “Islanders Arms.”
