MONO: Forever Home - Live In Japan With Orchestra Pitreza (Deluxe Edition) [Blu-ray]

When MONO first conceived the idea of a live concert with orchestral accompaniment, it seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime dream that would require unique circumstances, a huge team of like-minded and generous contributors and a lot of luck. Exactly ten years into their career, this was by far their most ambitious project. They flew from their native Japan - where, ironically, they were less well known and successful at the time than in the United States and Europe - to New York City, where they assembled an orchestra, secured a historic venue near Lincoln Center and bet on themselves to create a truly unforgettable evening.

Not only was the concert a resounding success, but it also established an essential part of MONO's identity: live orchestral performance. Since that magical night in NYC in 2009, MONO has performed more than three dozen live concerts with a variety of orchestras in almost as many countries around the world. Their last such concert in Japan, however, was more than 15 years ago.

A quarter of a century after the start of their legendary career, MONO have finally returned home. "Forever Home: Live in Japan with Orchestra PITREZA" celebrates MONO's 25th anniversary with the "OATH" orchestral world tour, which included 20 concerts in Europe, Asia and the United States of America in the last months of 2024. "Forever Home" was recorded in front of a sold-out audience at Spotify O-EAST in Tokyo and features a 12-piece orchestra led by orchestra director and frequent collaborator Chad McCullough, accompanying MONO in a full-length performance of their latest album "OATH". The 100-minute concert concludes with two of the band's most recognizable songs - "Ashes in the Snow" and "Everlasting Light" - paying homage to the first live orchestral performance 15 years ago in New York City.

"Forever Home" was recorded and mixed by longtime MONO engineer Matt Cook and captures the venerable group in their natural habitat and at their transcendent best. With the symphonic accompaniment of Japanese orchestra PITREZA, MONO transform a Tokyo room into a boundless sea - moody, contemplative and overwhelming. The physical formats of "Forever Home" are appropriately expansive and special.

Designed by longtime art director and collaborator Jeremy deVine, the 2xCD set is packaged in a quad gatefold sleeve and includes a feature-length concert film on high-definition Blu-ray, directed by Yusaku Mitsuwaka. It is a stunning work of multi-camera cinematography that perfectly captures the live experience of MONO.
